The Founder
Angelina Yusridar Mustafa, or Angie in short, is a development practitioner who has been working in the development sector since 2008. Her passion evolves from the empowerment of the community to decolonising the knowledge and practice in the development field through the lens of feminism. She believes that justice can be achieved by stopping the colonization legacy, such as imposing our mindset on the community.
Empowerment itself needs to be contested. We always use the word empowerment because we think that we are more empowered than others and that others need to be empowered or educated. This mindset has always been followed by the assumption that we can bring a solution or two to the problem. This mindset has always been ignoring the fact that the community has their own unique characteristic, solutions, understanding and perspective to address their problems. But, our thinking of empowerment never gives them a space to lead. Our thinking always assumes that their practices are out of date, traditional, and not in line with modernisation. Sound colonisation, right?
So, she establishes this platform to create space. To all women, to those who identify as women, to those who identify as non-binary, and to those who do not have space to share their story on a common platform due to stigma and international or national standards.
